Ascension Seton Medical Center Recognized as Level IV Maternal Care Facility
Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin has been re-designated a level IV maternal care facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services EMS/Trauma Systems Office. A level IV maternal care designation acknowledges that the hospital provides patients with the highest level of care available.
To be recognized as a level IV maternal care facility, a hospital must provide comprehensive care for pregnant and postpartum patients, from low-risk cases to the most complex medical, surgical and obstetrical conditions that present a higher-risk of maternal morbidity or mortality.
Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin recently announced plans to build a new women’s tower, a $320 million investment and part of a broader expansion and modernization plan for Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin. The tower will expand access to Ascension Seton’s comprehensive women’s health services in Central Texas with advanced clinical services for women’s health, increased patient capacity, high-quality, optimized care, and academic programs and subspecialty expertise. It will also create additional space where physicians can provide an exceptional patient experience, achieve world class outcomes, and train the caregivers of tomorrow.
The new women’s tower follows other exciting expansions to women’s health services at Ascension Seton, including the expansion of Maternal Fetal Medicine services across Ascension Texas, the addition of the new Comprehensive Fetal Care Center and Specialized Delivery Unit at Dell Children’s Medical Center, Level IV Maternal Designation at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, and continued growth of subspecialty gynecology services across the network.
