Dell Seton Neurocritical Care Unit Doubles in Size
Unit is the first of its kind in Central Texas and serves as a destination for patients with highly acute neurological conditions
Central Texas’ first and only Neurocritical Care Unit expanded from 15 beds when it opened in 2023, to 30 beds in 2024.
The unit cares for patients with a range of neurological conditions and the expansion will not only increase the number of patients who can be cared for, it will also allow for a wider range of cases that include neurosurgery, spine surgery, and stroke care, among others.
“[The expansion] opens up our ability to receive more patients from the community and surrounding hospitals who may not have our level of neurocritical care expertise,” said Dr. Shahed Toossi, Medical Director of Dell Seton’s Neurocritical Care Unit.
